**CONCRETE MIX DESIGN (GRADE M60)**

**(a) DESIGN STIPULATION:-**

Target strength = 60Mpa

Max size of aggregate used = 12.5 mm

Specific gravity of cement = 3.15

Specific gravity of fine aggregate (F.A) = 2.6

Specific gravity of Coarse aggregate (C.A) = 2.64

Dry Rodded Bulk Density of fine aggregate = 1726 Kg/m^{3}

Dry Rodded Bulk Density of coarse aggregate = 1638 Kg/m^{3}

**Step-1**

Calculation for weight of Coarse Aggregate:

From ACI 211.4R Table 4.3.3 Fractional volume of oven dry Rodded C.A for 12.5mm size aggregate is 0.68m^{3}

Weight of C.A = 0.68*1638 = 1108.13 Kg/m^{3}

**Step-2**

Calculation for Quantity of Water:

From ACI 211.4R Table 4.3.4

Assuming Slump as 50 to 75mm and for C.A size 12.5 mm the Mixing water = 148 ml

Void content of FA for this mixing water = 35%

Void content of FA (V)

V = {1-(Dry Rodded unit wt / specific gravity of FA*1000)}*100

= [1-(1726/2.6*1000)]*100

= 34.62%

Adjustment in mixing water = (V-35)* 4.55

= (34.62 – 35)*4.55

= -1.725 ml

Total water required = 148 + (-1.725) = 146.28 ml

**Step-3**

Calculation for weight of cement

From ACI 211.4R Table 4.3.5(b)

Take W / C ratio = 0.29

Weight of cement = 146.28 / 0.29 = 504.21 kg/m^{3}

Advertisements

**Step-4**
Calculation for weight of Fine Aggregate:

Cement = 504.21 / 3.15*1000= 0.1616

Water = 146.28 / 1*1000= 0.1462

CA = 1108.13 / 3*1000= 0.3690

Entrapped Air = 2 / 100= 0.020

Total = 0.7376m^{3}

Volume of Fine Aggregate= 1-0.7376

Weight of Fine Aggregate= 0.2624*2.6*1000= 683.24 kg/m^{3}

**Step-5**

Super plasticizer:

For 0.8% = (0.8 / 100)*583.53 = 4.668 ml

**Step-6**

Correction for water:

Weight of water (For 0.8%) =146.28 – 4.668 =141.61 kg/m^{3}

**Requirement of materials per Cubic meter**

Cement = 504.21 Kg/m^{3}

Fine Aggregate = 683.24 Kg/m^{3}

Coarse Aggregate = 1108.13 Kg/m^{3}

Water = 141.61 Kg/ m^{3}

Super plasticizers = 4.6681 / m^{3}

So the final ratio becomes

Cement : Fine agg (kg/m^{3}) : Coarse agg (kg/m^{3}) : Water (l/m^{3}): Superplasticizer (l/m^{3})

**1: 1.35 :2.19 :0.29 :0.8**

Bug holes and pin holes can be eliminated by using Hypercrete , SCC admixture @1000ml/100kg of cement. You can go to very law w/c ratio like 0.2 and achieve very high strength with comparably very law cement content while having self compacting properties. Hypercrete can be used in high dosage for G70 or G80 concrete. Sometime you may have to blend the concrete mix with 10 -15% silica fume.

I wanted to know the MIX design of M95 as per IS-10262 as we are going to use it in our project. and also the required temperature of concrete during poring.

sir, i am doing project on m60 grade. give me information about high strength concrete and its IS code

sir .i got your design of m-30 ,m-40 ,m45 ,m50 of ra flyover at delhi … but i need design calculations alongwith the code plz send

sir ples send ratip M-30 ,M-35 ,M-40 M-45 M-50

I am pursuing my thesis on self compacting concrete and a bit confused on the topic. please provide me some valuable assistance on the topic.

thanks

sir, we have to design m-60 grade of concrete please provide me procedure with is code

sir i`m provide a cube please tell me mix design and i need high compressive strenth……..

sir,i’m doing the project for design of concrete structure…please tel me the procedure to do my project

Dear All

Although IS 456 limits the use of cement / cu.m to 450 kgs, it can be increased upto 540 kgs as per MORTH standard. However difficulties encountered during hot climate has to be taken into account to avoid thermal cracks. Also please note the proportions obtained on calculations from IS 10262 are only a guidance, however trial mixes have to be done to observe the properties of fresh concrete viz., cohesiveness (for enhance pumpability), workability etc. CA & FA proportions may be changed purely on All – in -aggregate curves. For high strength concrete it is normal practice to add MICROSILICA @ 5 – 8 % of cement content to achieve desired strength.

Sir please send me that morth specification so that cement content can be taken up to 540 kg/m3 and how to avoid the thermal cracks during hot climatic condition. and instead of using 12.5mm aggregates if we use 20mm, water content increases and hence the cement content. so please send me how to overcome this problem.

Sir please send me that morth specification so that cement content can be taken up to 540 kg/m3 and how to avoid the thermal cracks during hot climatic condition.

Dear sir,

What is PT Concrete Grade & what is mix design for M35PT concrete.

how limit in m-60 concrete, water/cement ratio

which In IS Code For water/cement Ratio

Sir Is Very Urgent

Please Help Me

Is 456 is no confirms limit, it is base of referance book, if you make M60 Grade then you W/c ratio is almost 0.28 to 0.30 & Admixture is BASF Glenium B276 & Sika then you get M60 Grade

please send some mix design data for all types of concrete

can we replace filter sand which is basically sand residue from road surface washout after a storm, as an alternate to micro silica..?

How to design double storage building

I wanted to know the MIX design of M100 as per IS-10262 as we are going to use it in our project.
