I want to know the consequence of using crushed sand in concrete as fine aggregate.I observed that workability of concrete
is reduced drastically when crushed sand is used in concrete. How to overcome it.

dnyan says:

u can use 100% crusher sand instead of river sand when u use the crusher sand the surface area of FA increases hence increase in the water demand u can over come by adding the admixtures in the mix the strength of the concrete will be much more than the normal mix
caution should be taken after pouring to avoide the shrinkage cracks due to the capillary action the water comes on the suface of it.

Dear sir,

I am working as a construction manager in one of the leading civil engineering construction firm, as the responsibility of mine is to maintain the airport apron .

The real and regular problem which I am facing in the Airport is edge spalling in Concrete Apron.
As we are using the rapid setting concrete for the repairing works , it solves the problem temporarily and again the same problem comes in to picture.

Since the airport is sensitive area and any loosen material from the rigid apron can cause damage to the Aircraft to the unimaginable level.

The turbines of the Aircraft can suck the materials from the surface if it is loose and cause the damage to the Aircraft.

Suggest any method which is proven economical as well as durable and instantly repairable for the edge spalling repairing works.

Regards
A.Vijayakumar
