Beam Reinforcement

The following picture is taken at a construction site and it shows the beam reinforcement. In any beam reinforcement, two things should always be kept in mind. These are Proper Lap and Ld

In case these are not properly provided as per the design the entire beam purpose is lost and beam loses its required strength. It has been found that if the beam is not properly reinforced, the entire structure is bound to collapse

dear sir i want to know how to calculate the ld lenght of steel

Jamshed khan kundi says:

For steel calculation in beam,we are given reinf0rcement in % i.e 3% so calculate the v0lume of 15 ft l0ng beam having breadth and depth 1 ft n 1.5 ft. The v0lume c0mes 22.5 cft. N0w quntity of steel wil be= 22.5 x 3 x 490 / 100 x 2204= 0.15 ton.

Zeeshan Albert says:

Mass=Density X Volume
Mass=490 lbs/cft X 22.5cft =11025 lbs
(to convert lbs=kg)
Mass= 11025 X 0.4536 = 5000kg
(to convert kg=large ton)
Mass= 5000/1000= 5 TON
(assumed i.e 3% weight of steel)
Mass= 5 x 3/100 = 0.15 TON
