Sir, I want to know about modeling open channel. When we modeling an small open channel with considering scale effect, what range of froude number(or Reynolds number) is appropriate? Our experiment is about debris flow.
  2. For Modelling open channel, Actual scenario of the field condition will be a replica in your model only if you have attained geometric, Kinematic and Dynamic similarities. Again most influencing force in open channel is gravity force, therefore you have to have the same froude no for both model and prototype. If viscous force is playing a role(as the channel is small) then you also can go for reynolds no. similarity, but for that you might have required to change the operating fluid.
