Winsor Probe Concrete Test

This procedure I came across in one of the site.Just for info to Beginners. This test is called WINSOR probe test.

When the concrete is done and its up and you want to know the strength of concrete with minimum damage, this is the one of the test.

Engineer will select the location. In this case its in column.

They use this tool to drive the bolt type into the concrete. Then use a tool to measure the up stand length, from that you can get the penetration depth.Through the depth of penetration the concrete strength is being calculate.

Concrete Test

This is on slab.
Take 3 points and take average depth to get the strength.

Shuttering Picture on Construction Site

Follwing picture shows the shuttering for slab and beams at a construction site. On close inspection we can see that this picture shows the drop panels too.

Right click on the picture and click on view image to see the actual sized picture

Beam Reinforcement

The following picture is taken at a construction site and it shows the beam reinforcement. In any beam reinforcement, two things should always be kept in mind. These are Proper Lap and Ld

In case these are not properly provided as per the design the entire beam purpose is lost and beam loses its required strength. It has been found that if the beam is not properly reinforced, the entire structure is bound to collapse

Piles Used To Retain Soil

The following picture shows how Piles are used to retain soil. Piles are very useful way to prevent the sliding soil. More over as we go deep and deep, excavation becomes a prime source of concern for site engineers as soil keeps on flowing. More over in some cases it can become a source of accident. So piles are a great relief to site engineers.

Brick Walll Before Plastering

An image showing the brick wall just after construction. Its the stage before plastering.

We are thankful to Mr Satyendra K Sharma for bringing following points into notice:-

Picture of the wall shows that the masnory has been done without proper technical supervision.Following defects could be noted.

1. Bricks are laid in English bond, but the vertical joints are not in one line. In fact the header brick should be placed on center line of the stretcher brick, so that all vertical joints are in same vertical line.

2. Width of brick joints are not proper.

3. Joints are not properly packed with mortar, creating honycomb brickwork.
