Is Civil Engineering Suitable For Girls?

Posted in Civil Engineering Information | Email This Post Email This Post

This question has been raised again and again whether girls should do civil engineering or not. I am still not able to understand why people think girls are not suitable for civil engineering. In fact, in my opinion girls can and should do civil engineering. Many people say Civil engineering is field engineering and girls would have difficult time in working with labor class and would face numerous other site problems. But why those people forget that civil engineering is not limited to only field engineering, in fact its one of the broadest field of engineering. Girls can opt for office jobs like analysis, designing, tendering, managing projects and many other office jobs.

So if you think you have the will power to enter this male dominant engineering, just do it. Don’t let others decide your future, if you want to be a civil engineer just go for it. In future you surely can opt for off-site jobs if you think on-site jobs are a bit difficult due to surroundings or circumstances.

On a personal note, I did my civil engineering and in my class also we had 3 girls who opted for civil engineering. Two out of three are well placed in office jobs where as third one has opted for a project management in construction diploma. So if you have the right attitude and strong will power just join this branch and prove to this world that girls are no less than boys and can do wonders if provided with right kind of opportunities.

We at engineeringcivil.com wish best wishes to all of you and hope to read your success stories in near future.

i was gone fdor counsiling student. in the bargining i was little bit confident that any girls would join. but when i enter into the counsling hall i lost my hope that if any girls did not join means ………i was thinking. And i told to my father that i wo’nt take civil engineering. my father was tensioned.AT last my father consealed to take civil.
now i was happy that many girls in my class.

civil engg. is third class field i am talking about site work dealing with labors,go to work in remote areas where transportation is there, you have to leave your family,no holidays(sat, sun) in big mnc like in other fields they give proper holidays,no fixed timing, overall not suitable for anyone because you need to enjoy life while earning not enjoying life and simply earning i think ???,overall it is a flucating career,8 years before the company pay nothing and ther was no need for civil engg. but in other field jobs were plenty before and also today.and no fixed timing of salary nad if u r working under contractor then god should help u

think before u chose your career.

    • riddhi rawal December 27, 2011 at 12:31 am

U can go for civil engineering Its not only a Men’s job but its some of our Indian people mentality only u need to have guts to stand in field I have stand on building/road site where about more than 30 labours in which there were only 3-4 female workers were working and got the site work done and sometimes u also have to face public responses on road site but after construction u will definately feel proud as I m feeling know after construction of road project whenever I used to travel on that road.
