Work Profile : Presently working as associate design engineer for Fluor Daniel India Pvt Ltd. Area of work is structural steel design and concrete foundations for both static and dynamics analysis ( mainly in oil and gas industry)

Er. Vincent T. H. CHU obtained the degree of civil and structural engineering in the University of Hong Kong. He is the author of the monthly column “The Civil FAQ” in the Hong Kong Engineer published by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers and is the author of the civil engineering monthly columns “The Civil Q&A” and “The Civil Corner” on the websites on World Federation of Engineering Organization and the University of Science and Technology (American Society of Civil Engineers – International Student Group) respectively. He is the recipient of the Ombudsman’s Award 2007 under complaint-related category and Young Engineer of the Year Award 2008 (Merit) organized by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. He is also the author of the engineering book “200 Question and Answers on Practical Civil Engineering Works”, “Civil Engineering Practical Notes A-Z” , “Ask Vincent Chu (Common FAQ on Practical Civil Engineering Works)” and “The Underlying Reasons in Practical Civil Engineering Works”.

    i have 6/18eyesight will i have any problem will working as a civil engineer or at the time of recuitment

    If there will be crack in grouting of running or aligned machines and the cracks found expansive, then suggest me for rectification.

    Where can I find someone to test cement strength?

    My condo just got it’s balconies redone and within a couple days of an airconditioner dripping and flowing to the edge it has warn a crack/line. I dont’ believe this water should have such an effect withtin a couple days.

    Is it possible that the cement was mixed right?

    dear sir i want to caculation fo hydro test in sewrage project ( how much Lit. water permited in lekage in 300mm dia pipe per meter in per hours)

      Permitted leakage in water test = d x l x t /60 litre

      where d (m) is diameter, l is length (m) of pipe and t (min) is test period.

    “DESIGN OF THE TRUSS WITH THE HELP OF TUBULAR HOLLOW STEEL SECTION N COMPARE IT WITH THE TRUSSE MADE FROM OTHER TRETITIONAL (I,C OR OTHER) SECTION”.

    I am civili engineering student at the Tshwane Univesity of Technology in South Africa.We have been given an assignment on Labour enhanced construction, so i would like to know from you how this comes into play in the industry?Is it restricted to certain projects?and in terms of the success rate is it better than mechanically driven projects?
