Can you shed some light on how the builders of 9th thru 14th century cathedral builders knew how to create foundations for these mega ton buildings? Why don’t the walls of one side of these buildings sink at a different rate than the other sides? Is there a source for the history of the learning curve these builders had to climb to make such massive building so stable? If you have neither time nor interest to answer my questions, please suggest who might.

Thank you
John Blair

Sir, we have constructed a slab of a ramp in multilevel parking which is of 150mm thickness and in the ramp approximately 48 no. of electrical conduits were passing each of 25 mm dia. By mistake labour has placed all conduits side by side having spacing not more than 8 to 10 mm between them so when the concreting is done and after deshuttering we have seen in maximum area mortar have not reached below the conduits and in approx in 6 square meter of area all reinforcement and electrical conduits are shown open from bottom, so now if we deduct cover 20 mm , 12 mm longitudinal and 12 mm transverse reinforcement ad 25 mm of conduit dia then on that place only 81 mm depth of concrete is available. Sir, please tell me what is the remedy or should we brake the ramp slab and construct again?
